Google Keep is the latest Google app to get a dark mode

Dark. Mode. It’s all the rage these days. Google is updating apps left and right with new dark themes. Android Q has a system-wide dark mode built-in. If you’re a fan of dark-themed software, there has arguably never been a better time to use Android. The latest Google app to get the dark touch is Google Keep Notes.

The new dark mode is in line with Google’s other apps with dark themes. This is not a pure black OLED theme, rather a very dark grey. Google Keep Note’s usual bright colors have been toned down to dark, muted colors. Even the widget turns out the lights. The one area that seems to not adapt to the dark theme is the drawing pad, which is to be expected.

Like many of Google’s dark mode rollouts, this is a server-side switch. Unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do to speed up the rollout. You’ll want to make sure you’re on the latest version of Google Keep Notes (5.19.191.07) to be ready when Google decides to flip the switch. We’re glad to see Google continuing to update their apps with dark modes. Hopefully, by the time Android Q reaches public release, they will have all of their major apps ready.
