In preparation of the upcoming launch of the Honor 20 Series on May 21st in London, Honor has began dropping in further hints as to what we can officially expect from the devices that will be launched. Additionally, leaked renders of the device ensure that we get a good look before the phone goes official. Here is everything that we know about the Honor 20 Series so far!

Official Teasers

First up are the teasers from Honor’s official social media channels. Most of these teasers revolve around the number four, which is highly suggestive of the rumored quad–rear-camera setup for the devices.

Similar teasers are also to be found on their Facebook page. Honor also updated their cover image on Twitter and Facebook, which again, is suggestive of the four camera setup on the back of the device.

If that wasn’t suggestive enough, Honor even created an interactive game on their official website which allows users to stand a chance to win a brand new Honor 20. This teaser involves using different camera features to proceed further, hinting towards the various features that we can expect.

Judging from the game, we can easily expect to see a 48MP primary shooter, a telephoto camera, a wide angle camera and a dedicated low light mode on the highest variant flagship at least.

Leaked Renders

The teasers from Honor fleet around the subject of the camera hardware, so naturally, this aspect of the device has been leaked quite a bit already. Very early case renders for the Honor 20 Pro indicated that the phone will come with a quad camera setup, even before Honor’s teasers began coming through. The specific setup of both, the Honor 20 and the Honor 20 Pro, were also leaked.

As per the leaks, the primary sensor on both the variants is expected to be the 48MP Sony IMX586. The second camera expected to be common across both is the 16MP super wide angle lens camera, while the third common sensor would be the 2MP macro camera. The fourth camera is speculated to be different on the devices, as the Honor 20 may come with a 2MP depth assist camera, while the Honor 20 Pro may get the upgrade to a 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom capabilities.

It is clear from the initial leaks that Honor is looking to target features given by camera-beasts like the Huawei P30 Pro, but at a hopefully cheaper price tag. The comparison with the Huawei flagship becomes even more apparent if you consider the spec leak of the device.

WinFuture.de leaked the Honor 20 in its full glory, complete with its renders and information regarding the camera setup. The Honor 20 is expected to come with a 6.26″ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, and a hole-punch on the left for the front camera. While the device does not appear to sport a visible fingerprint scanner on the back or the front, it is also not expected to come with an in-display fingerprint scanner as Honor is reportedly packing the feature in the power button instead.

On the inside, the Honor 20 is said to be sporting the high-end HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC, as also found in the flagship Huawei Mate 20 and P30 series. The report mentions that the European region can expect to see variants with at least 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Other notable features are said to be dual band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 3.0 support through the USB Type-C port, a 3,750 mAh battery with SuperCharge support of up to 22.5W. The device is also expected to run Android 9 Pie underneath Honor’s MagicUI 2.1, which is a variation of Huawei’s EMUI 9.1.

For the cameras, the report mentions that Honor will be utilizing pixel binning technology on the main 48MP sensor. The Honor 20 will not have OIS, while the Honor 20 Pro will; and there are differences expected with the aperture values on the device. The front camera on the Honor 20 is expected to be a 32MP sensor at least.

The Honor 20 is expected to be launched in Sapphire Blue and Midnight Black colors. The report further mentions that the device is expected to be cheaper than the Huawei P30 and the Honor 20 Pro, which is a logical conclusion with the available information. The Honor 20 Pro is expected to come with some more additional features that will hopefully make it stand out even more as a proper step up from the standard variant.
