It’s been a big day today for OnePlus with the official launch of the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro. The new announcements from the Chinese smartphone maker have matched up quite well with rumors we have heard about both of these smartphones. It’s clear that OnePlus is going all in on the high-end smartphone market (in multiple says) which means they also get to leverage some of their older smartphones more as well. It’s unclear when (or if) OnePlus has stopped manufacturing the OnePlus 6T but both variants are receiving a price cut starting today.
We see other OEMs do similar things when they release their next smartphone in a series. Apple will mark down the price of the previous year’s iPhone when they launch a new one at the end of the current year. Android OEMs will do this when they get a big seller on their hands but we usually see big promotions tied to Android devices (trade-in, gift cards, buy one get one free, etc.). With the launch of the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro, the company has officially announced the price of the OnePlus 6T will go as low as $550.
So there are two versions of the OnePlus 6T being sold right now. One comes with 128GB of RAM and will now cost you $550 with this discount in place. The other variant comes with 256GB of internal storage and it will be priced at $600 from here on out. These prices will go into effect on May 17th at OnePlus.com. Considering the price of the OnePlus 7 and its unavailability in the US, the OnePlus 6T is still a viable option for the price conscious. Buying year old flagship smartphones at cheaper prices is something many people have been doing for years to save a lot of money.
