The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro was launched in November last year, with minor upgrades over the Note 5 Pro in the forms of dual selfie cameras and a notched display. Since the Redmi Note 6 Pro was typically the same as the Note 5 Pro in terms of internal specifications, it failed to generate a lot of curiosity among the users and even prompted Xiaomi to rush to the launch of its successor – the Redmi Note 7 Pro – India. Despite the lukewarm response it got, there’s no denying that the Redmi Note 6 Pro is a practical choice for its price and if you made this choice too, you’ll soon be able to enjoy Android Pie on your smartphone.
After more a month of testing in the closed beta and the global beta circles, Xiaomi has rolled out the MIUI 10 update based on Android 9.0 Pie to the Note 6 Pro units. The latest stable update is meant for the global variants of the smartphone and weighs at 1.7GB.
Besides bumping the Android version up to Android Pie, the MIUI 10.3.2 update brings an “optimized system performance” and an improvement in terms of the overall stability and the security of the smartphone. You may not experience any major visual changes in terms of the user interface since it is inherently the same as MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Additionally, there might not be any major changes in terms of the cameras on the smartphone.
To download the update, you can head over to Settings>About Phone>System Update and check for new updates. Since the rollout may take place in a phased manner, you can jump the queue and install Android Pie on your Redmi Note 6 Pro by flashing the firmware through recovery.
