Now that OnePlus is done with the launch of the OnePlus Nord, the company seems to have started prepping up for the launch of its next-gen flagships — the OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 8T Pro. The upcoming devices are expected to launch sometime later this year and, according to new strings discovered in the latest update for the OnePlus Camera app, they might feature a 64MP primary sensor.
A teardown of the OnePlus Camera app (v5.4.23) has unearthed new strings of code that hint at 64MP photo support. Since both OnePlus flagships from earlier this year feature a 48MP primary sensor, we believe that the company might be prepping up OxygenOS‘s stock camera app for its next-gen flagships.

The strings reveal that the OnePlus Camera app has received support for a new 64MP camera mode, which “offers higher resolution and captured details in well lit scenes.” The code further reveals that burst capture will be disabled while using the 64MP mode and that the camera app will recommend using the lower resolution 16MP mode for better dynamic range. The 16MP default mode further confirms that the new feature has been added in preparation for an upcoming device, as the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro capture 12MP photos by default.
As of now, we’ve not seen any leaks or rumors about OnePlus’ next-gen flagship devices. The company typically launches its T-series devices towards the end of the third quarter or early in the fourth quarter each year, and we should start seeing more details about the OnePlus 8T and 8T Pro in the coming weeks.
