OnePlus and Google have teamed up to launch a new puzzle game called Crackables. This isn’t any normal puzzle game, though. If you’re one of the first 1,000 people to complete the first 3 challenges in the game, may have a chance to win a new gaming rig valued at $30,000. But more on that later.
Crackables – A OnePlus and Google Collaboration
This limited-time game was created in close conjunction with the APAC division of the Google Zoo creative team. The game itself was written by a company called Sleep Deprivation Lab which provides writing, direction, and producing services for the entertainment industry. In particular, the game is the brainchild of Davidson Cole, best known for his work on Shadowrun, F.E.A.R, and Eclipse Phase.
OnePlus wanted a way to showcase the performance of their smartphones, so they decided to help create a fun little challenge for mobile gamers across the world. The game is open to all, however. You don’t have to own a current OnePlus device like the OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, or OnePlus 6. Any mobile device with a browser can play the game, though it requires skill, speed, and a good memory to win.
The first 1,000 people to finish the first 3 challenges will qualify to have a microcontroller sent to them. Those 1,000 people with the microcontroller will then compete to complete the final puzzle. The grand prize is an “Ultimate Gaming setup” that’s valued at $30,000, but there will be other prizes awarded to the second and third place winners.
The game itself is actually pretty enjoyable. I was able to master the first two sets of challenges within the first tier, then after about an hour stuck on the third challenge, I gave up. I consider myself a gamer, both on PC and mobile. When we were invited to test the game (don’t worry, we’re disqualified from competing for the prizes), I thought it was going to be a piece of cake. I was wrong. This game is definitely a challenge, as it should be. Although many will compete, only one will win.
