Why Are Leather Helmet, Leggings, and Boots Sprites Missing from Bedrock Samples?
Quick Answer: The Bedrock Samples repository only includes the leather chestplate sprite by default. The helmet, leggings, and boots sprites are omitted from the sample resource pack. You can create them by copying the chestplate texture and modifying it, or extract the full set from the vanilla game files using a tool like mcpack or by unpacking the vanilla resource pack from your Minecraft installation.
Details: The resource_pack/textures/items/ folder in the bedrock-samples repository contains leather_chestplate.png but is missing leather_helmet.png, leather_leggings.png, and leather_boots.png. This is a known omission in the sample pack (GitHub issue #134). The leather armor items share the same base texture with different UV mappings defined in their respective .texture_set.json files. To add the missing sprites, you can either: (1) Extract the vanilla textures from %LOCALAPPDATA%/Packages/Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe/LocalState/games/com.mojang/resource_packs/vanilla/textures/items/ on Windows, or (2) Create derivative textures by editing the existing chestplate sprite. Each leather armor piece uses a separate texture file but references the same material definition for dye coloring.
